What Ovio Is

Ovio House LLC is a design practice. It designs the architecture by which a household eats — what the household keeps, how it combines, and the shortest path from shelf to table. Its work is planning, sequencing and organization. Ovio designs household systems. Households remain responsible for the foods they choose, purchase, prepare, and consume.

What Ovio Is Not

Ovio is not a medical, nutrition, dietetics, therapeutic, allergy, or healthcare service and is not licensed as one. Nothing Ovio produces — in a design, on this website, in an interactive tool, in a session, or in correspondence — is medical advice, nutrition advice, dietetic advice, allergy advice, diagnosis, or treatment. No practitioner relationship of any kind is created by an engagement with Ovio, by using this site, or by using anything Ovio delivers. Ovio does not assess, diagnose, treat, monitor or manage any condition. Ovio does not recommend, prescribe, endorse, or monitor supplements, vitamins, medications, or nutritional products. Nothing Ovio delivers should be used to delay, replace or override advice from a physician, registered dietitian, allergist or other qualified professional. If a professional's guidance and an Ovio design differ, follow the professional.

Household Decisions

Ovio provides structure, recommendations, and organizational frameworks. Final decisions regarding ingredients, products, meals, preparation methods, portion sizes, substitutions, and consumption remain the responsibility of the household.

Allergies, Intolerances and Medical Restrictions

The household is responsible for disclosing every allergy, intolerance, sensitivity, medical dietary restriction, medication interaction, and religious or ethical restriction, for every member of the household, in writing, before design begins — and for telling Ovio in writing about any change. Ovio designs on the information it is given. It cannot design around a restriction it has not been told about, and it has no way of discovering one. A household with a severe allergy, anaphylaxis risk, celiac disease, or any condition requiring strict avoidance should treat an Ovio design as a starting structure to be reviewed with its own medical professional, not as a safe list. Ovio does not design for cross-contamination control and does not verify that any kitchen, product or process is free of an allergen.

Products, Labels and Ingredients

Check every product, label and ingredient before buying it and before eating it. Formulations change, manufacturers change, products are discontinued and replaced, and the same product name can mean different things in different stores and different years. Ovio does not read labels on a household's behalf, does not verify manufacturing or facility practices, does not monitor reformulation, and does not endorse or warrant any brand, product, retailer or supplier named in a design.

Food Safety, Storage and Reheating

The household is responsible for buying, storing, handling, preparing, cooling, freezing, thawing, reheating and serving its own food safely, and for the condition of its own kitchen, refrigeration and equipment. Where a design includes make-ahead, refrigerated, frozen, or prepared components, any storage times, freezing guidance or reheating instructions are general and assume sound equipment, correct temperatures and safe handling. They are not a substitute for current food safety guidance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which the household should follow. Cooking temperatures, cooling times and storage limits are the household's responsibility. When in doubt about the condition of any food, discard it.

Speak to a Professional First

Anyone in the household who is pregnant or nursing; is an infant or young child; is an older adult; is immunocompromised; has diabetes, kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, a digestive disorder, a swallowing or feeding difficulty, or any other medical condition affecting food; is taking medication with dietary interactions; or has a history of disordered eating, should consult a qualified professional before adopting any part of an Ovio design.

Children

Where a design covers meals for children, the adult members of the household remain solely responsible for the suitability, safety and supervision of what children eat, and for the requirements of any school, camp or care setting.

Equipment

Ovio does not inspect appliances or equipment. Where a design references equipment, the household is responsible for using it in line with the manufacturer's instructions and for its safe condition. Ovio is not affiliated with, and does not represent, any equipment manufacturer named in a design.

No Outcome Is Guaranteed

Ovio designs a system. It does not guarantee any outcome — time saved, money saved, waste reduced, adherence, health, weight, or any other result. Any figures in Ovio materials are illustrations drawn from prior work, not promises.
